She dashed to the entertainment center and held the phone up to one of the speakers. The receiver was set to the local pop station, and the song was Jordin Sparks’ No Air. “If you’re intense minutes so a friend of yours can hear a song they can listen on the radio for free, I’m going to call the cell-phone police so they put you on hold forever,” I warned her. “Now look!” she said, showing me her phone’s screen. And there were the words: “Jordin Sparks (featuring Chris Brown), ‘No Air.’ ” “Pretty cool, isn’t it?” she asked, audibly on cloud nine with herself. “That’s impossible,” I said. “Try this.
” She dialed 1-866-411-7664 as I put on a CD of songs I’m using in my French studies. In a minute, her phone spelled out “Alain Souchon, ‘Les Regrets.’ ” That prompted me to arrive at a phone call. “The technology utilized by 411-SONG is licensed from a British band called Shazam,” said Sina Khanifar, a wireless crackerjack who is launching a signal-boosting profession called repeaterstore.com. “The air recognition works by recognizing a ‘musical fingerprint’ from the music being sent, and analogous it to a database of more than 2.5 million songs,” Khanifar said.

As we inch that much closer to WWDC on June the 9th, brief tidbits of dirt are starting to tear out regarding the next-generation 3G iPhone. The latest rumor to find its way onto the interweb is the plausibility that Apple will be selling the 3G iPhone in no fewer than three different colors. As seen in the facsimile depicted here, the next-generation Apple iPhone could be shipping in your choice of silver, black, or red. The perfidious with chrome trim is pretty much in line with the current model, but the counting of two other colors could provide Cupertino fans with a little more personality.
The deep red is idly reminiscent of the red Chocolate phone from LG. Maybe it’s just me. In any case, you can chalk up the color choice thing as a rumor for now. Look for more confirmation when Steve Jobs takes the manoeuvre early next month.
