IPhone to disturbed applecart for Samsung, LG in H2. Phones.

Posted by igllespierolando on June 24, 2008

SINGAPORE/SEOUL (Reuters) - South Korean phone makers Samsung and LG enjoyed a astral set up to 2008 but the launch of Apple’s much-hyped new iPhone is set to dent their sales and profit margins later this year. A steadfast portfolio of phones helped LG Electronics’ sales thicken at almost four times the annual industry average in the first quarter, while Samsung Electronics expanded at twice the rate, evidence from Strategy Analytics showed. But the Korean companies could hit a zoom bump in the coming months as the progressive global rollout of Apple Inc’s third-generation (3G) iPhone shaves a few cut points off their profit margins and crimps sales of their acme models, analysts said. “You don’t need an analyst to tell you that a low subsidized penalty for the most-anticipated gadget ever is going to move huge amounts of iPhones in the finite or slue of channels through which they’ll sell,” said Yankee Group analyst John Jackson.

“It will dismal the Koreans in key high-end segments.” Rivals Motorola and Sony Ericsson are also expected to self-respect a tough time against the next-generation iPhone which melds a phone, iPod media jock and web browser, and offers faster Internet access on advanced wireless networks. It will promote for as low as $199 when it goes on sale from July 11, half the price of the original model, thanks to prodigious operator subsidies. “Now is the time for Korean makers to trim the beefy from cellphone prices — how can their $700-$800 phones compete with the iPhone?” asked Daiwa Securities analyst Jae Lee.

Three Flavors of 3G iPhone On The Way. Rumors.

Posted by igllespierolando on June 1, 2008

As we inch that much closer to WWDC on June the 9th, brief tidbits of dirt are starting to tear out regarding the next-generation 3G iPhone. The latest rumor to find its way onto the interweb is the plausibility that Apple will be selling the 3G iPhone in no fewer than three different colors. As seen in the facsimile depicted here, the next-generation Apple iPhone could be shipping in your choice of silver, black, or red. The perfidious with chrome trim is pretty much in line with the current model, but the counting of two other colors could provide Cupertino fans with a little more personality.

The deep red is idly reminiscent of the red Chocolate phone from LG. Maybe it’s just me. In any case, you can chalk up the color choice thing as a rumor for now. Look for more confirmation when Steve Jobs takes the manoeuvre early next month.

The purported insiders also fortify previously uncorroborated rumors that Apple will allow subsidized phone prices and that the iPhone with.

Posted by igllespierolando on May 22, 2008

Apple will not only mention a 3G-capable iPhone at the Worldwide Developer Conference on June 9th but will fetch it available almost immediately, according to a circulating from Gizmodo. If accurate, the gunfire confirms that phones may be available well ahead of anticipated schedules and launch in at least some countries true away. Some launches may be staggered; one report has Telefonica launching the phone in Spain through a flagship Madrid shop on June 18th with wider availability on or near the same day. Other European launches may follow suit, says the unexplored claim.

The purported insiders also brace previously uncorroborated rumors that Apple will allow subsidized phone prices and that the iPhone with 3G will “no longer be available” at one inflexible price, with its actual price hinging on the customer’s contract. This may not bid to all countries, the report warns. European stores in particular have been the most sensitive to Apple’s insistence on a dishonest price, with until O2 and T-Mobile promotional subsidies all but cleared stock.

For when you lack an extra something to make that “I’m working late” excuse just a part more believable. Rumors.

Posted by igllespierolando on April 24, 2008

As the rumor frenzy of a 3G iPhone is at an all-time high, talk of one of Thailand’s foremost carrier is out about it finalizing the distribution agreement for the current iPhone. This is a executed 360 degrees to the “Asia always gets the latest and greatest gadgets before the West does” trend. I justly believe that Apple has made an oversight in not getting to this market quicker, thus allowing alternatives such as the Nokia N series, SE’s K series of camera-phones and various other touchscreen handsets from the likes of Samsung and LG to hit the markets and woo consumers looking for a (legitimate with warranty) iPhone but who have settled for work out alternatives due to the Cupertino company’s handset not being officially at here.

With the alternate coming of the iPhone being imminent, I put faith Apple will loosen its current vice-like clasp with respect to country or network locking. This should be much easier to do now that it has opened its doors to third-party developers to form apps for the iPhone. With this in mind, I believe Asian consumers would dig to see more local media content available for their iPhones and to have apps and features tailored to their precise local interests and lifestyles.

The iPhone has captured a lot of notice with consumers due to its intuitive description as well as the future SDK and enterprise functionality, but some users are stuck feeling that the keyboard could use some work. According to a at Good Housekeeping, testers had bantam difficulty navigating the iPhone, but the keyboard proved to be trickier to use. Writer Amy Roberts notes that users had a callous time lore to type properly using the on-screen keyboard, versus handsets that featured a physical keyboard. The Good Housekeeping Research Institute’s engineers and a consumer panel compared 11 unfledged QWERTY phones under $300 (suggested retail sacrifice with a two-year service contract and established rebates) and the iPhone ($399, but included in the test because of its popularity).

They evaluated the phones for frankness of text-messaging, text delivery speed, battery life, as well as ease of placing calls and convey quality. The Good Housekeeping Research Institute’s overall favorite phone, the Voyager by LG ($300), was touted for its solitary exterior touch screen and a large internal button keyboard that put it forward of the rest. The BlackBerry Curve from T-Mobile ($250) had the fastest send and get times in Good Housekeeping’s tests. While testers found typing to be pretty easy, some complained that the keyboard buttons were small. The Motorola Moto Q 9h, recently , took the pamphlet next honors, with Roberts noting that the keypad was particularly roomy.
