Samsung, Sony in Talks for $1.8 Billion LCD Line. Televisions.

Samsung Electronics and Japan’s Sony script to jointly make a fourth flat screen plant with an investment of some $1.8 billion in South Korea. The new liquid crystal manifestation (LCD) line, called ”the phase 2’’ facility of the existing 8-2 facility, will be built by S-LCD, their combined venture that already operates three factories in Tangjeong, South Chungcheong Province. ”We are in particularized talks with Sony for additional investment in the 8-2 line, and the results will come out soon,’’ a high-ranking Samsung Electronics legitimate told The Korea Times, Sunday. ”Samsung’s visual advertise business unit is highly likely to join the project after Vice Chairman Lee Yoon-woo had earlier promised to stand behind ‘management independency’ on Samsung’s indication affiliates,’’ another Samsung source added.

The sources, however, declined to elaborate further. In April this year, Samsung and Sony agreed to devote 1.8 trillion won to inflate the manufacturing capacity of LCDs amid ever-increasing global demand for LCD televisions.

Make-UR-Tones costs $6.99 per month for three ringtones. LG ringtones.

AT&T today announced two brand-new music services for its consumers to immediately access their library of music instantly through their phones. The Make-UR-Tones service is designed to allow users to contrive and customize any ringtone, while Remix lets users access music from their home PC through a sensitive phone. Napster Mobile will be available on more AT&T phones starting this summer, the followers said. The release of mSpot Make-UR-Tones – available only by phone via the AT&T Media Mall — makes AT&T the senior US mobile phone bearer that allows subscribers to create and modify a ringtone from parts of a song. Ringtones can vary in period from one second up to 30 seconds. Make-UR-Tones costs $6.99 per month for three ringtones.

Other customizable ringtones are at a la carte for $2.99 each. The mending is available only on the Samsung SYNC, Samsung A737, Samsung A747 and Motorola V3xx, but will extend to phones from other manufacturers soon. Remix streams songs from users’ Internet-connected PCs as the crow flies to phones, where they are stored in memory. The service is available now for $9.99 per month, for 75 music tracks per month.

Seoul stocks bounce, led by techs; banks suffer. LG electronics.

SEOUL, March 18 (Reuters) - Seoul stocks were up 0.5 percent on Tuesday, led by electronics titles, recouping some of the 1.6 percent losses which took shares down to a 10-month closing bellow in the before-mentioned session. Electronics titles such as Samsung Electronics (005930.KS: , , ) and LG Display (034220.

KS: , , ) rose on hopes the weakening won will fetch South Korean exports more price-competitive in abroad markets. Samsung advanced 3.1 percent to 567,000 won and LG Display went up 3 percent to 45,000 won. “Samsung Electronics is benefiting from the weakening town currency, and also its valuation has become good-looking after an extended fall. Local institutional investors are snapping up Samsung shares as they angle mid-500,000 won elevation as affordable,” said Kim Gee-soo, an analyst at Goodmorning Securities.
